Elevated poolside granny flat 3.6m x 8.5m at Bli Bli, Sunshine Coast QLD
Elevated to hide water tanks and pool pumps
When it looks ‘impossible’ to build a granny flat, that’s when you call Backyard Pods. Our customer in Bli Bli, Sunshine Coast, had the dream for a deluxe poolside granny flat that would seamlessly hide a visual nightmare of tanks and plumbing underneath. With a custom design from our network architect, approval was gained for the standard 3.6m x 9m flatpack building kit to be cut down in size to 8.5m in length, gaining every available square metre available from this very compact site.
The finished 3.6m x 8.5m building kit with 1.5m x 4m deck and veranda kit is clad in standard Colorbond Surfmist, with Surfmist for the gutters, barges, and veranda under-eaves sheeting, and custom Colorbond Surfmist roof (instead of standard Zincalume) for a clean, contemporary, and ultra-sleek look.
Our customer chose their own door 2145W x 2400H and windows (2) 600W x 1800H and 900H x 600W.
The architect described the project as a “dual-function pool cabana and self-contained secondary dwelling with kitchen, bathroom, open studio bedroom/living space, and a small veranda with a deck overlooking the pool.” Give or take the pool, the ‘dual function’ or ‘multi-purpose’ concept is tremendously popular. It gives homeowners so many options for recreation, work-from-home, guest accommodation, extended family living, and of course, renting it out as a granny flat for additional income.
As you can see from the view underneath this elevated example, it also does a great job of hiding masses of pool equipment and associated plumbing, along with the granny flat connections.
With help from our project architect and other network partners in QLD, our customer was able to get the poolhouse of their dreams built in a very awkward spot and with thousands saved compared to any conventional building methods.
Got an idea for something like this at your place? Another Sunshine Coast granny flat perhaps? Wherever you are in NSW, VIC, ACT, or SE QLD, we’re happy to help.
