Home office 3m x 4m in weatherboard-look Colorbond cladding in Western Sydney NSW
In western Sydney, our customer built a modest home office using a Backyard Pod kit 3m x 4m with Bonville weatherboard-look Colorbond cladding, exclusive to Backyard Pods, in crisp Surf Mist (almost white). A great example of an unobtrusive backyard office, featuring Polar Ecoview double-glazed windows (from Backyard Pods) for added energy efficiency. Our customer lined the interior walls and ceiling with Gyprock plasterboard and fitted air-conditioning for perfect interior comfort and presentability all year round.
STAGE-BY-STAGE CONSTRUCTION PICS
It’s important to know that even a small home office like this one will need approval. Many of our customers (like this one) have attempted to create a backyard studio room by making it look from the outside like a ‘shed’, and imagining that neighbours wouldn’t notice or care. Many customers have subsequently been ‘busted’ by Council when someone has reported them and it takes only hours or days for the inspectors to descend upon your property in person. If you’re lucky, like this customer, you’ll be able to avoid a demolition order but only after considerable stress and additional expense.
So, unless you’re building a ‘shed’ (eg: no Gyprock lining on the walls, no floor coverings, no furniture or comforts for habitual human use), you’ll ask us to help you with the approval process as part of your Backyard Pods project. Aside from avoiding the risk of a demolition order and the potential to void the entire insurance for your property by having an ‘illegal building’, an approved extra room adds value to your home now and in future if you ever need to sell it.
Whether a prefabricated home office pod delivered complete to your property, or a flat-pack kit installed on your property would be the way to go, give us a few details and we’ll see if we can help you to achieve your home office building goals.
