The tie-up focuses on Kingspan’s Slimline tanks, a range of Colorbond® tanks that are perfect for tight backyard areas. The corrugated tanks are available in 22 Colorbond colours to blend or contrast with your Backyard Pod and make sure the complementary duo is aesthetically pleasing to look at.

Choosing the right tank at the outset makes delivery and installation a smooth and efficient process. Backyard Pods founder Melanie Williamson says that everyone needs to consider buying a matching water tank when choosing their pod kit. “For most customers, the water tank is mandatory to achieve building certification or council approval. But even non-certified structures should have water tanks fitted.”

“People can use the stored rainwater on gardens and lawns, for topping-up pools or spas, washing the car, or hosing down the walls of the pod once in a while,” she said. “It’s rewarding to think customers will no longer watch all that pure rainwater from their Backyard Pod roof vanish into the stormwater system.”

A common misconception is that small Backyard Pod housing a home office, for example, might harvest only enough water for basic needs such as making tea or watering pot plants. But even a small shed or studio pod must handle rainwater in a way that doesn’t cause issues by pooling where it is not wanted, washing away gardens, or flowing into neighbouring properties in a heavy downpour. That’s where size does matter; the larger the tank, the more water you can collect during wet periods to store for those extended dry spells.

Fortunately most Backyard Pods customers are water-savvy and elect to install a downpipe to the supplied gutter on their pod, storing rainwater in a tank that compliments their backyard design.
