Multi-purpose granny flat Brisbane QLD 4m x 11m with eaves in Everton Park

Adult kids tend to stay living with parents much longer in cities these days. Older suburban homes were not designed with family rooms, rumpus rooms, or media rooms, and one family bathroom was typical before ensuites became more the norm. When a growing family in Brisbane needed extended living areas and extra facilities, our customer’s first thought was to ask local builders for a quote on an extension to their existing home, which was slightly elevated at the back. When the quotes for conventional construction were eye-watering, Backyard Pods helped the family achieve their requirements at around half the price, and they couldn’t be happier with the results.

Starting with our network partner architect for approval, our customer settled on a flatpack building kit 4m x 11m with eaves in Colorbond Monument, with special piers used to allow building around underground pipes as needed. The structure has a sleek and stealthy facade in Monument external wall cladding, eaves undersides, and guttering and barges, combined with black-framed double-glazed aluminium windows and doors, and it sits lengthways at the side of the large backyard with very little visual impact on the main house.

Project management was organised by our network partner so that it was ready for the family to use in very little time once compliance issues were sorted. The family immediately started using the large open-plan living area for movie nights and sports on their big TV, with drinks from their full-sized fridge and snacks from the kitchenette combined with laundry and ensuite facilities for everyone’s convenience.
